Update:
GO VOTE>>>
hey all... it's been awhile since we've sent one of these mailing list things out but i'm bored and it is now officially halloween so what better time to do this... here's what we've been up to...
RECORDING
we spent some time recording as most of you know at Studio Academy in
Rochester... we've given a few different rough mix demos out to people
at shows and whatnot but we still don't have a finished product... i
take responsibility for that... i've been busy up in minneapolis and
haven't really had time to go down and finish my vocals... we will have
something finished for the holidays though... i promise... it will be a
free cd and free download type thing... we haven't had a recording that
is indicative of our sound in well over a year and we want to thank all
of our fans and friends by giving out something for free... in case you
didn't know here are the songs we recorded:
Intro
Come On
Jameson Waterfront
Rock Dance Fuck
Dead Man's Hand
Let's Get High
At The End Of This Rope
Devil May Care
TFA TCB
Sonic Reducer (Dead Boys Cover)
Kick Out The Jams (MC5 Cover)
out of those 11 tracks, 8 will probably go on the cd...
UPCOMING SHOWS
we are playing a Pop For Charity show in St. Paul on November 4... it's
at Big V's and is with Wild Honey, Off With Thier Heads and
[spacebar]... for more info. go to our website or
www.tcshowslist.com... after that we have a few tentative shows for
December including our giant 3 year anniversary blowout and then that's
it for the year...
THE FUCKING AMERICANS VIDEO VOL. 2
we've been tossing around the idea of doing another video EP... we have
amassed a great deal of footage since we released the last one and want
people to see it... it is still in the very infant stages but we'll
keep you updated...
THE FUTURE OF TFA
stay tuned for major news concerning the future of The Fucking
Americans...
that's it for this edition... have a great halloween...

well... it's 11:18 a.m and i'm nursing a bit of a hangover as well as listening
to mike savage snore on my couch... what better time than now to update the
news section of the site... first of all i want to thank everyone for coming
out to the show last night... it's awsome to see so many people come out and
support us... it is apreciated... i'd also like to thank billy from the black
halos for singing sonic reducer with us and letting me sing where eagles dare
with them... also to the shocker for putting on a killer rock set... a rowdy
drunken good time was had by all and if you missed it, you missed one of the
rowdiest shows i've ever witnessed... some video was shot so hopefully we
can put some of the craziness up on the site... we are also in the midst of
recording some new songs... we don't know exactly what will be done with the
recordings but we'll have some sound clips up on the site in the near future...
i guess that's about it for now... i'll do a more thorough update when we're
done recording... in the meantime check out the show section... there's some
good shows coming up... and also our myspace account at www.myspace.com/thefuckingamericans...
see you kids later...

it seems ironic that i should write a news update on the stoner-est day of
the year, what with me being the sober-est member of the band, but in the
news today... the last hit song written by tfa contains the lyrics 'come on,
let's all get high.' (not to be confused with the already carved into stone
classic early tfa song, 'come on.') at the triple rock show, it was dedicated
to 'all the weed heads,' or 'ganga(sp?) heads' or something. it is a hit,
as most tfa songs are, and the instrumental version rolled out of our practice
space today, just prior to matt and jesse and chad's 'sparking a bowl.' jesse
was even greeted by a friend today with 'happy 4/20.' it was awesome. speaking
of that one show, the bleeding hickeys rock well and i would like to play
with them again. 25 suaves should be allowed to play their 3 or 4 hour sets
without interruption from opening bands. they've earned it with hard work
and stickin' it to 'em.
the fucking americans have yet to quit their day jobs. as a matter of fact,
this is the first time in a long time that each member has been employed.
breakdown: chad is a pizza delivery specialist, matt is a junkyard dog, j.
bradley is a post bulletin delivery specialist, rich works for three for the
gallows, and i am a chinese waiter/deli worker. it is difficult being chinese
during the week, and not chinese on the weekend.
our dear friend alyce made it to new orleans safely, and she still admits
to knowing us. this information should potentially be kept from her family.
i went to chicago last week, and didn't see any good shows. all i heard was
'there's a deathcab show on thursday.' blah blah. i hope i didn't miss a cougars
show. i would also like to see a band called hayward riot. anyone know that
band? me either, but i want to. if you like the rappers, and we're still talking
about chicago, check out typical cats, they just released something. i haven't
heard it. i got a book called 'trout fishing in america.' look it up, readers.
kirstin got a book called 'vineland' by thomas pynchon.
i should have left behind, or dropped, enough names by now, to have left everyone
with research and reference material for a couple weeks, because 4/20 is now
official 'look into something i've never heard of' day.
zoogerfest is our next engagement, hosted by our friends the studio academy,
a wonderful venture in highschool-the-less-conventional-way, at the acclaimed
playmor ballroom of rochester.
celebrate death like a samurai, the fucking americans.
1/18/2004
happy new year to everyone. tonight we get to play our third show this weekend,
at our own Loveugly Cabaret in Rochester, MN. We kicked off the weekend by
kicking off a kick ass line-up at the Triple Rock on Thursday. Start Destruct,
The Voltz, and Cardinal Sin played after us, which is a rough gig for them,
considering our raw rock powers. Those bands are full of members of accomplished
deceased bands. their experience shows. on friday night we played at studio
academy, and just to keep it consistent, none of us changed clothes from the
previous night's show (or maybe all week). somebody knocked a beer and a rum
and coke into our merch bin at the triple rock. now all the t-shirts are frozen
together in chad's van. tonight we'll play with end transmission and clair
de lune. i'm taking this night as a great opportunity to take notes on stage
presence, since i've been told to 'move around a little.' i usually respond
with something like 'i am a steadfast chariot of rhythm,' but no one goes
for it. There is talk of us being at the LaCrosse tattoo convention in early
february, presumably playing with local tattoo artist psychobilly favorites
kustom occult. our van is currently uninsured, any benefactors can contact
us through e-mail. since vace cooper got batteries for his pedal, all he needs
is new cables and a bigger amp. everyone else is set for equipment, so your
contributions will go to the general band fund, which we promise to use not
on recording or anything, but on custom beer coolies and embroidered wrist
bands and stickers. laura dean was very impressed with j. bradley's drumming
on thursday. we trust laura's judgement, and he can stay. there has been some
concern that because our news is never updated, we are not doing anything.
to the contrary, we cook food and practice at chad's all the time. our top
secret practice space is almost finished, having 2 of 4 walls insulated. our
band has a kind of endurance not found in those bands that practice in cushy,
well heated spaces. this week i have listened to: drive like jehu, les savvy
fav, cougars, and themselves. this has been a news update regarding the fucking
americans, posted by our diligent web guy brian, and written by the wordy
mars dangerously, grateful to have another show tonight, in spite of this
dismal fucking tundra wasteland our ancestors settled in.

okay... so it's been many many months with no updates but finally we're ready
to let you know what's up with The Fucking Americans... our full length album
that we recorded was cut down to a 4 song 7 inch and then again cut down to
a 2 song split 7 inch with a band from Minneapolis called Three For The Gallows...
the good news is that this is finally happening... the master has been shipped
off to the pressing plant and we should have the records by mid july... in
celebration of this we are going on a week long midwest tour also with Three
For The Gallows... you can find out all the info. about that on our brand
new redesigned webpage... make sure to thank brian for all his hardwork on
that... we'd also like to welcome 2 new members to the band... our tour mom
/ booking agent / lady who does all the shit we're too lazy to do kat swenson
and our brand new van "johnny thunder"... we'll have pictures and bios of
them up on the webpage in the next week before we leave for tour... that's
about all i have for right now... i hope to see alot of you at all our upcoming
shows... keep supporting the rock... oh yeah... we have a message board now...
feel free to talk all the mad shit about me that you want on it instead of
annonymously emailing us or doing it on our journal... peace, Rich

December 2002
alright
kids.... it's been awhile and i apologize but my computer crashed a while
ago so i have not been able to update anything or send out any emails... but,
big news... we are recording our first full length album this weekind and
you all are going to have a chance to pick the songs that will apear on it
and also pick the name... we are going to record about 19 or 20 songs but
only 10 will appear on the album so if you send us your mailing address, we
might siend you a cd-r of the 20 songs... pick the 10 that you think should
go on the album and email us back... only a handful of people will get this
oppurtunity so the first 10 will get the chance... all of you can have a chance
to pick the title of the album though.... we have no idea what to call it
so we are asking you , our faithfull mailing list kids, for help... just email
us back with what you think would be the best title for the fucking americans
album.... each one of us will pick a favorite and then we'll email you our
favorites and you all get to pick... sorry if this makes little sense but
i am short on time and drunk as hell at the lovugly as i just got done dj'ing...
so yeah there are your tasks if you wish to accept them... we'lll have more
news this weekend as recording gets done... also me and chad got haircuts
from Kat at the loveugly... she rules at cutting hair....

November 2002
First of all, we
successfully spread The Fucking Americans rock n' roll gospel to lacrosse,
WI and sioux falls, SD. We'd like to thank all the kids that came out to those
shows, steve from the warehouse and jayson from sioux falls for getting us
on those shows and especially our good friends billy music and army of ponch
for rocking with us. a good time was had by all and we look forward to returning
to both places very soon. sorry to the girl in sioux falls who bought the
case without a cd in it. i promise i will have it sent out by monday. we also
played a day of the dead show at the LoVEuGLY with Lazy ike and the daredevils
that was an incredible amount of fun. there are pictures of that show on both
our website and also at www.loveugly.com . hopefully we will have some video
from that up on our website very soon.
the next month is i guess what you call "the calm before the storm." we are
kinda taking some time off this month to write and fine tune our set. we have
one possible show lined up but it is not for sure yet. we'll let you know
the exact date when we find out. december 7 & 8 we will be recording a bunch
of songs with our good friend and sound man Mark Cutshall. we're not exactly
sure how many songs we'll do or what we're gonna do with the recording but
we will at least have samples on the website for you all to listen to. we
have some shows that month but we can't really talk about them right yet.
it's a surprise. we'll let you know. we are also now booking dates for a short
week long southeast U.S. tour in january. stay tuned to the website for more
details on that. that's about all we have for now. remember to check out www.livejournal.com/users/oddsagainstme
for (mostly) daily updates as to the goings on of our band and our lives.
it's a pretty interesting read from time to time. hope everyone has a good
thanksgiving and we'll see you soon. peace out

October 2002
Hey kids... it's been awhile since we've checked in to let you know what's
up in The Fucking Americans camp so I figured we were due for an update...
First of all, I want to thank everyone who has come out to any of our shows
in the last month and to the all the bands we've played with... we've gotten
to play some really good shows lately and gotten to hang out with old friends
like Billy Music and Cesto and make some new friends like Ultimate Fakebook,
Burning Radios and Digger... all of them are not only great people but great
bands as well... check out their music if you haven't already... the links
are on the links page... now onto what we have in store for you in the coming
weeks and months ahead...
VIDEO - we are currently filming a video for the song come on! off of our
demo... it is being done by our very good friend and videographer darrin limvere
(spelling may be wrong, sorry darrin)... darrin has worked on some rock climbing
videos in the past and is also working on making a zombie movie right now....
we are all very excited and happy that darrin has taken time out of his busy
schedule to do this for us... when we are finished it will be on the website
for download and also on our full length (whenever the fuck that comes out)
RECORDING - in the next month or so we are hoping to go in and do a super
low budget demo recording with one of our very good friends... this is not
gonna be for any release... we are gonna attempt to record and mix all of
our songs (13 or 14 in all) in one take with no over dubs... we may put some
of these up on the website depending on how they turn out... after that, we
will pick the best 5 or so and hopefully record with Jeremy Tappero of Attention
who did our first recording again... these songs will be used for a couple
7 inches that we have planned in the future... we'll let you know more about
that later... hopefully soon after that we will finally record our full length...
look for that in the spring maybe...
SHOWS - we have no shows scheduled for now... we do have some potential shows
coming up but no dates yet... very soon we will start booking dates for our
march of 2003 east coast tour... if you know anyone who could help us out,
email us and let us know...that's about it for now... in closing we want to
thank everyone who has voted for us so far on the epitaph demo-lition page...
as of yesterday we were number 9 out of the top 114... we appreciate that
so much...peace,Richman VA

are not yet set but you can check out what we have so far in the shows section...
i added 3 more today... if you are only able to make it to one of them, try
to get to the board to death show on september 6... we are planning on a few
surprise for that one... plus book of dead names is playing and they will
blow you away if you've never seen them... we will have copies of our demo
for sale at all the shows as well as brand new t-shirt and patch designs...
i'll be trying to update the livejournal as sort of a tour journal from the
road... you can find that at www.livejournal.com/users/oddsagainstme...
hope to see you all at some of the shows...

UPDATED 7-23-02
So here it is, the first update in like 3 months. Sorry for the long delay
but there hasn't been a whole lot going on. I was on tour with Cadillac Blindside
(R.I.P.) for a month and a half, then Chad went on vacation for awhile, then
I went on vacation for awhile. But we're all back now and ready to rock. Here's
what's going on now. Before I left we actually recorded something. We spent
a day in St. Paul recording 4 songs with Jeremy Tappero formerly of The Stereo
and now of Attention:. The songs we did were: Come On, Zombies Live, One Whiskey
Down, and Anthem. Eventually we are going to master it and put it on 7 inch.
Don't even expect it to be ready though until at least October if not later.
Also we are booking a week long tour for the first week of September. We will
be going out with a kick ass band from Arizona called Burning Radios. Expect
some exact dates and locations within the next week. Finally we are looking
for a new person to do the webpage for us. If you know anyone who is good
at that sort of thing and willing to work for free, let us know.
